WINRAY BENITO FORTUIN (born 10.03.1983)
Winray Fortuin is an South African singer / songwriter and dancer.
Winray Fortuin: Childhood
Winray Fortuin was born in Charlesville, a small town in Cape Town,
South Africa. His parents are Willem and Mary Fortuin who both are very much
involved in education field. He is the second eldest of three brothers.
During Primary school (Montevideo) Winray was intensed involved with sport
And was a very talented sportsman in athletics and soccer.
Winray began dancing at age 10 and was unaware of his talents. Before
discovering his vocal talent, he already had aspirations to become a
dancer when he danced for the belated Redd Angel.
Aged 21, Winray competed in a local dance competition that made him
realise that he wanted to make dancing his career. He left Cape Town
overnight to fulfill his dreams. His career began in Pretoria after he auditioned
for a part in a production at the Performer Theatre in Menlopark and that's where he started to
work on shows with Willie Venter who is now his Manager.
Winray Fortuin: Musical Career:
Was a backing dancer for Reddangel
Worked at Performer Theatre in their best productions Decades Deelite,
Born in the RSA 3,Movin & Shakin which were all choreographed and directed
by Willie Venter.
Released On-Que's Debut album 2008 called Shake it featuring Monde Msuthwana and Cassie which can be downloaded from
Itunes,Amazon and MTN Xploaded.
Winray Fortuin received most of his training from Willie Venter.
Started writing songs with Willie Venter who wrote most of the songs on the Shake It album.
Had intense vocal training from Estee Powell who did a great job. He started to
work with this amazing energetic humble women during his contracted period at The
Performer Theatre - quoted - ("I will never regret i did").
He still attends Willie Venter's dance classes, which helps to improve his live performances.
Winray Fortuin left school in 2001, (Elsies-River High), to join the hospitality industry.
The love for singing began when he was working part time at restaurants to earn
spending money and save for his studies. Winray never studied and made
a huge career change to follow his dreams in becoming a performer and worked
hard to make his dream become a reality.
